This is not the first time Harvey has been the subject of a death hoax. In 2019, a similar rumor spread online, but was quickly debunked by Harvey's representatives.

The latest death hoax appears to have originated from a misleading YouTube video posted about a week earlier. The video claimed that "1 hour ago American TV icon Steve Harvey suddenly died at home at the." However, the video was quickly removed from YouTube for violating the platform's policies.
