Van Aert Wins Second Overall Title In Tour Of Britain

Belgian professional road and cyclo-cross racer Wout Van Aert has provided an inspiring update on his recovery from surgery on social media. The 29-year-old shared details on Strava of just how far he had come since his first shower after surgery 12 days ago.

Van Aert, who rides for UCI WorldTeam VismaLease a Bike, won three consecutive men's races at the UCI Cyclocross World Championships in 2016, 2017, and 2018. He has also won 46 races as a professional, including an enviable litany of Classics: Milan-San Remo, Strade Bianche, Gent-Wevelgem, E3 Saxo Classic twice, and Omloop Het Nieuwsblad.

In the caption for his Strava post, Van Aert wrote "almost professional." This is a testament to his determination to return to his former level of performance as quickly as possible.

Van Aert's return to riding is a welcome sign for fans of the sport. He is one of the most exciting and talented riders in the world, and his presence in the peloton will only make the racing more competitive.

In other news, Van Aert secured his second overall title in the Tour of Britain after finishing second on the climbing stage into Caerphilly. However, his victory in 2021 was far more dominant.

Van Aert, Stuyven, Girmay, and Gazzoli were taken off the course during the stage after a crash involving a team car. Six other riders were able to resume racing.
